To the People of the World

On behalf of all students in Iran, we express our great appreciation for your efforts in publicizing the news related to the mass arrest of our friends and comrades and your protest against the Islamic republic of Iran. The movement for equality and freedom in Iran will never forget your support and solidarity.Freedom and Equality Seeking Students in Iran are in a battle with the Islamic Regime. Our demands which are nothing but the demands of the people of Iran have been labeled ‘actions against country’s security’. Many of our friends have been arrested and put under torture. In order to defeat us, each day they make the list of their accusations and allegations against us longer and heavier. We, the freedom and equality seeking students in the past two weeks have demonstrated that we not only peruse our goals but also will organise a national protest for the immediate release of our friends and comrades. We are just in the beginning of our battle and will not stop until all our friends will be released. To achieve this goal, we need all your support and solidarity as women, workers, students and all other people across the world. We call you to enhance your efforts in supporting our struggle. We are in the beginning of our battle. Freedom is our right! Equality if our right! Opposition to war is our rights. A humane life is our right! Education at universities and not at militarized colleges and universities is our right! Unconditional and immediate release of all arrested and imprisoned students is our right! In our struggle we need your support more and more. The banner of freedom and equality seeking students is humanity’s banner in Iran. Support us to hold this banner up. Support us in releasing our comrades.Until the release of our comrades from prisons, students’ protests will continue across the country.Freedom and Equality Seeking Students16December 2007Proclamation of the arrests on the University Students’ DayOn the threshold of the 16th of Azar (December 7) the University Students’ Day in Iran, more than 30 “Equality and Freedom-seeking Students” have been arrested. Surprisingly, 16th of Azar – the symbol of the struggle against dictatorship of the ex-imperial regime – is not tolerated by the Islamic Government either. What has happened during this ceremony – the main pivot of which was the opposition with war and sanction – is the repetition of the same scenes of the previous government. The commemoration of the University Students’ Day is the tradition of more than 50 years and the ones who have been arrested this year are the most honest children of our country. We want the unconditional and immediate release of our captivated students.Seeking Committee for the Freedom of the University Students
